T.I. On Why He Declined Stereotypical Role on Fox’s ‘Empire’

“We would never be who we are if we weren’t allowed to make [mistakes],” says Hustle Gang leader, T.I. Recently, he and his wife Tameka Cottle-Harris chopped it up with the hosts of Power 105’s ‘The Breakfast Club,’ and amongst other juicy topics shared why he rejected an offered role on the hit Fox network show, ‘Empire.’

“That’s the reason why I wasn’t on ‘Empire,’ because they called and wanted me to play a rapper who gets arrested or goes to jail. He later jokes, ‘Well actually, I’ll save my biopic for myself.”

During this in-depth interview, the Harris couple speak on a slew of hot topics including his multiple financial streams including music, movies, and reality shows. Given that he appeared on MTV’s ‘T.I.’s Road to Redemption,’ and would eventually mentor Jimmy “Pee-Wee” Winfrey, who has been arrested for allegedly shooting up Lil Wayne’s tour bus.

“Wayne is a dear partner of mine,” Tip expressed before showing respect to Pee-Wee whom he considers to be like a son. “When I spoke to Wee he said he didn’t do it,” and soon added,”It’s unfortunate that I’m in the middle of it.”
