The victor of the most coveted fight in boxing history will don a belt worthy of a legend.

When Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao go toe-to-toe on May 2, the last man standing will walk out of the ring with a commemorative belt embroidered with emeralds or platinum, according to World Boxing Council president Mauricio Sulaiman.

“For this special recognition I would like to have emeralds or platinum, but everything will be defined during the next weeks,” Sulaiman said. “This is because of the magnitude of the event, which will be broadcast via TV networks globally.”

No additional details were given about what will undoubtedly be the most epic piece of hardware.

Sulaiman went on to say that the fight – watching both men engage in the most pivotal fight of their careers, and potentially ever – will bring boxing back to the forefront.

“It came in a good moment and it will be an emotive event. Both are obviously putting their legacy at stake, to prove who’s the best, satisfying an enormous created expectance,” he said. “They are also competing to be considered one of the best 10 fighters in the entire boxing history.”
