Former UNLV and NBA star Larry Johnson has his own strong opinions about the Donald Sterling controversy.  On Saturday night, Johnson sent out a tweet saying that black people were focused on the wrong things and should focus on having a league of their own.

As Johnson put it, black people should focus on having their own league with black owners.   This isn’t the first time Johnson has caused a stir with his pro-black outlook on sports.

During the 1999 NBA Finals between the Knicks and Spurs, Johnson caused a stir by saying: “We’ve got a lot of rebellious slaves on this [Knicks] team.”

Johnson was hired by the Knicks two years ago and serves several front office roles as a basketball and business operations representative. It’s unclear if he’ll remain with the team under new team presidentPhil Jackson.
