After it’s reign on every Billboard chart and in every club this year, it’s hard to separate the smash hit“Drunk In Love” from Beyonce‘s vocals, “surfbort,” and Jay Z‘s playful verse. But Hungarian singer Monika Juhasz Miczura, who goes by the stage name Mitsou, claims that she’s the rightful owner of the song’s opening vocals.
Mitsou has hit Beyonce with copyright infringement, and has filed for unspecified damages in a Manhattan Supreme Court suit. In a court document, the singer also names Jay Z and “Drunk In Love” producerTimbaland:
“Mitsou never gave permission or consent, and never granted any of the Defendants permission, to use her voice for any purpose.”
Mitsou claims that the “Drunk In Love” intro rips off her 1995 song,“Bajba, Bajba Pélem.” Beyonce’s camp has not commented on the suit.
