Are you ready to find out the real story behind the Godfather of Soul’s life? Set for release on August 1, prepare to see “Get on Up,” the James Brown biopic.
In the film, James Brown is portrayed by the star of “42,” Chadwick Boseman. The film portrays Brown’s life as an impoverished child, his time spent in prison, and his journey to stardom. The film also stars Viola Davis, playing Brown’s mother who abandoned him at the age of 6, and Octavia Spencer playing his aunt who raised him in a brothel.
Being brought to you by the director of “The Help” and the producer of “A Beautiful Mind,” this film looks like it may be a hit. Sure to offer up plenty of singing, dancing, soul, and funk, “Get on Up” is on my list of summer must-see movies.
