Marion ‘Suge’ Knight was released from the hospital late last week following a club shooting that saw him shot six times. And while he’s remaining mum about the details surrounding the incident—he abides by the “no snitching” code of ethics—rumors are swirling that a dispute over money is to blame.
According to All Hip Hop, a source says that Knight, 49, was shot over a dispute with R&B singer Akon’s brother Abou “Bu” Thiam. Suge allegedly owes Bu around $250,000, and a fight involving the two broke out at a Los Angeles-area studio a few weeks ago.
The former Death Row Records chief sustained wounds in the stomach, chest and arm while attending the Pre-MTV Video Music Awards party hosted by singer Chris Brown at L.A.’s 1OAK nightclub in the early hours on August 24. He was later admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in critical condition, and was released on August 27, to continue his recuperation at home.
Thiam, who is also Brown’s manager, has yet to publicly address the rumors.
