Luke Responds to VladTV’s Brother Marquis Interview

0

When Uncle Luke was in his younger days, he often found himself at the center of controversy whether it was fighting for Hip Hop’s freedom of speech at the Supreme Court of the United States, or exchanging barbs with Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre during the early 90s. But now that the legendary curator of Florida Hip Hop is older, he’s much more peaceful and profound in his approach to dealing with disagreements. But according to the 61-year-old, the boundaries of his breaking point have been greatly tested in wake of Brother Marquis’s recent interview with VladTV.

Uncle Luke was so offended by the accusations made by his former bandmate, that he condemned both VladTV and Brother Marquis for the interview in a scathing message that indicated he may pursue legal action.

“I don’t do a lot of interviews with some of these organizations that are just looking for clicks,” Luke said. “These VladTV people…the folks at VladTV decided they wanted to interview Brother Marquis of 2 Live Crew…When you have trash organizations like VladTV…where they go find people at their weakest moments…knowing these people aren’t equipped to do an interview, but they’ll do the interview and ask them all kinds of crazy a*s questions because they have some venom about where they’re at in their life, their career and the things that they didn’t do to take care of themselves when they were getting money. I don’t even know where you find VladTV. [I] don’t know nothing about it. But all I know is when I get one too many friends texting me something that this guy said, I then have to address it because again like I said, I don’t run from no smoke and if VladTV is on [my live YouTube stream] looking, or whoever the producer is, you can get on here right now and we can have a conversation about it and everything that [Brother Marquis said]. But you never called me! You never had a conversation with me! You never corroborated the stories that this guy is saying, so you just let the dude say what he’s gonna say…and then you just posted it. Well, in the real world, that’s a lawsuit.”

In the wake of slapping Chris Rock onstage at the Oscars, Will Smith said Friday that he is resigning from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

In a statement obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, Smith said he was heartbroken and would accept all consequences for his conduct during Sunday’s ceremony.

“My actions at the 94th Academy Awards presentation were shocking, painful, and inexcusable. The list of those I have hurt is long and includes Chris, his family, many of my dear friends and loved ones, all those in attendance, and global audiences at home,” Smith said. “I betrayed the trust of the Academy. I deprived other nominees and winners of their opportunity to celebrate and be celebrated for their extraordinary work. I am heartbroken. I want to put the focus back on those who deserve attention for their achievements and allow the Academy to get back to the incredible work it does to support creativity and artistry in film.”https://13782a029481b9147a3fef75bbb5ab00.safeframe.googlesyndication.com/safeframe/1-0-38/html/container.html

Earlier this week, the Academy began disciplinary action against Smith after a meeting of its board of governors, and issued a statement saying Smith was asked to leave the show following the slap but that he refused. The statement didn’t provide details, but also acknowledged that the Academy “could have handled the situation differently.” One board member told THR that it still wasn’t made clear who asked Smith to leave, or the sequence of events.

Smith’s resignation means he can no longer vote for the Oscars — but he can still be nominated for future Academy Awards, attend future ceremonies and keep the statue he won. Still, the Academy’s formal review will continue.

“We have received and accepted Mr. Will Smith’s immediate resignation from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences,” the Academy said in a statement. “We will continue to move forward with our disciplinary proceedings against Mr. Smith for violations of the Academy’s Standards of Conduct, in advance of our next scheduled board meeting on April 18.”

The actor said in his statement Friday that he has responded to the Academy’s disciplinary hearing notice and “will fully accept any and all consequences” for his conduct.

Rock was presenting best documentary feature at the 2022 Oscars on Sunday when he made a G.I. Jane joke about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, who has a shaved head (the actress has alopecia). After returning to his seat, Smith shouted at Rock to keep his wife’s name out of his “fucking mouth.”https://13782a029481b9147a3fef75bbb5ab00.safeframe.googlesyndication.com/safeframe/1-0-38/html/container.html

Later in the show, while accepting the Oscar for best actor for his performance in King Richard, Smith made a tearful apology to the Academy and fellow nominees. But it wasn’t until Monday, in an Instagram post, that Smith apologized to Rock. Rock has remained mostly silent, telling the audience at his comedy show in Boston on Wednesday night, “I’m still kind of processing what happened. … So at some point I’ll talk about that shit. And it’ll be serious, and it’ll be funny.”

In an interview that aired Friday on Good Morning America, the producer of the 2022 Oscars telecast, Will Packer, said he initially thought Smith smacking Rock was a bit, until Rock came backstage and confirmed that he had really been hit. “Once I saw Will yelling at the stage with such vitriol, my heart dropped. And I just remember thinking, ‘Oh no, oh no. Not like this,’” recalled Packer. “Chris was keeping his head when everyone else was losing theirs.”

Packer said Rock insisted he was fine and refused to press charges when approached by the LAPD.

Dej Loaf looks like she’s gotten butt enhancements

This fall, it will have been eight years since Dej Loaf took over the game with “Try Me.” While many may try to forget, Dej Loaf had a solid three year run. During that time, Dej Loaf was dating Lil Durk.

There were a lot of rumors about Dej Loaf and Lil Durk. But, whatever the case, the two ended as quickly as they started. Ironically, when the two were dating, Dej Loaf was the bigger star of the two. She had music all over radio, including a song with The Game.Report Ad

In 2016, Dej Loaf and Lil Durk ended up deciding to break up from each other. During that span of time, there was a rumor that Dej Loaf had gotten booty enhancements. Given Dej Loaf’s style, many people wrote those rumors off as just silly gossip. Now, nearly six months later, Dej Loaf is trending on Twitter, due to the above photo, which shows her plump booty. This has reignited the booty enhancement rumors.

Since 2016, Dej Loaf has taken a noticeable step out of the limelight. Meanwhile, Lil Durk has become the biggest star in the game.

Snoop Dogg’s Death Row acquisition will not include these Dr. Dre and Tupac albums

The specifics regarding Death Row’s category are still “being negotiated,” per Billboard.BY SWEENIE SAINT-VIL  /  02.23.2022

Snoop Dogg’s newly acquired Death Row Records may reportedly exclude some of the label’s biggest albums. According to a Billboard report, Tupac Shakur’s All Eyez On Me and The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory albums are no “longer on the label” and have been since last month. Additionally, Dr. Dre‘s debut The Chronic is not part of the discography acquired by Snoop, but it may return to the record label early next year.

Per the publication, the deal between the “Beautiful” emcee and Blackstone’s MNRK Music Group has not yet been closed. Sources claim they are still negotiating specifics surrounding Death Row‘s catalog, which is currently still owned by Blackstone and MNRK. With the exclusion of the aforementioned projects, Snoop, who dropped three Death Row albums, is now the best-selling artist on the label’s roster.

As previously reported by REVOLT, Snoop announced the acquisition of his former record label days before his halftime performance at Super Bowl LVI. He expressed his appreciation for the opportunity and deemed it a “meaningful moment” in his life.

“I am thrilled and appreciative of the opportunity to acquire the iconic and culturally significant Death Row Records brand, which has immense untapped future value,” he said in a statement. “It feels good to have ownership of the label I was part of at the beginning of my career and as one of the founding members. This is an extremely meaningful moment for me.”

Since then, the “Bacc on Death Row” emcee has announced his plan to make some trailblazing moves with the label. “Death Row will be an NFT label. We will be putting out artists through the metaverse,” Snoop said in a previous Clubhouse conversation. “Just like we broke the industry when we was the first independent [label] to be major, I want to be the first major [label] in the metaverse.”

Nearly one year after being released from prison, rapper Bobby Shmurda is still fighting to be released from his recording contract.

On Thursday, Shmurda expressed his pent-up frustrations toward Epic Records in an Instagram post he quickly deleted. He complained the label wouldn’t release him from his contract or let him put out the album he says is ready to be unveiled.

“I got a 70 year old lady running my label and I lover her dearly but [she] doesn’t want to let me go,” he wrote, referring to Sylvia Rhone, 69, the chair and chief executive of Epic.- ADVERTISEMENT -https://s.yimg.com/rq/darla/4-10-1/html/r-sf-flx.html

“I did six years in jail trying to get off this label before I came home,” he continued. “You name one person in the industry a label keeps signed in jail for six years?????? Yeah [I know] I made them more millions than they ever gave me!”

Shmurda, who signed with Epic Records in 2014, has been vocal about his frustrations toward the label in the past. Last December, the 27-year-old said he hasn’t been in control of his music since he was 19 and didn’t know when his debut album or other material would be dropping.

After being arrested in 2015 on gun and drug charges, he blamed the label for not paying his $2-million bail, which Epic’s then-CEO, L.A. Reid, responded to by saying, “We seriously don’t make the money we used to make.”

Shmurda was later sentenced to seven years behind bars on murder-conspiracy charges, famously taking a harsher plea deal so his friend and fellow rapper Rowdy Rebel would spend less time in prison. Since Shmurda was released early from prison in February 2021, he’s dropped several singles and in August signed a management deal with Roc Nation.

“This is not a cry for help this is a message and understanding for my fans that they stopping my music and prolonging my career,” he wrote Thursday in his deleted Instagram post. “I been holding s— down doing everything on my own since I been home it’s been a year now I still feel like I’m in prison.”

L.A. Times has reached out to Epic Records for comment.

Lionsgate will distribute a new Michael Jackson biopic

Back in 2019, Deadline reported that Bohemian Rhapsody producer Graham King had secured the rights for a theatrical feature and three-time Oscar nominee John Logan will be writing the script. Now, a Michael Jackson biopic is officially on the way. Lionsgate just announced today (Feb. 7) that they will be handling global theatrical distribution of the feature, which is officially titled “Michael.”

According to a press release announcing the distribution deal, the feature will “give audiences an in-depth portrayal of the complicated man who became the King of Pop. It will bring to life Jackson’s most iconic performances as it gives an informed insight into the entertainer’s artistic process and personal life.”

“I first met the Jackson family in 1981 and I’m humbled to bring their legacy to the big screen,” Graham King said. “Sitting at Dodger Stadium watching the Victory Tour, I could never have imagined that nearly 38 years later I would get the privilege to be a part of this film.”

It is worth nothing that the new “Michael” film is being made with the cooperation of the Michael Jackson estate. “Ever since Michael was little, as a member of The Jackson 5, he loved the magic of cinema,” said Katherine Jackson, the singer’s mother. “As a family, we are honored to have our life story come alive on the big screen.”

Also recently, Jackson’s life and music was the source of inspiration for another work of art: a Broadway show. The show is titled “MJ” and takes place as Jackson prepares for the infamous 1992 “Dangerous World Tour.”

In regards to news about the Jackson family, Janet Jackson also recently received a film of her own with the Lifetime/A&E documentary Janet. The highly-anticipated first part of the series of the “definitive story on Janet Jackson” debuted on (Jan. 28). It treated fans with never-before-seen footage of Ms. Jackson’s meteoric rise to superstardom.

“6ix9ine Breaks Eminem Record”… Does He Though?

The latest Eminem verse on Cordae’s “Parables (Remix)” deliver the hardest burn in recent history.

Describing his unrelenting flow, Eminem refers to an infamous squabble between Meek Mill and Tekashi 6ix9ine that was filmed and heavily exploited for publicity by a young clout chaser. Marshall doesn’t try to hide what he thinks about him:

I treat a beat like it’s Tekashi, spit on that bitch like Meek Mill

That hurts, doesn’t it?
