Memphis police are currently surrounding Yo Gotti’s restaurant in an effort to prevent possible retaliation measures following the shooting death of Young Dolph.

According to TMZ, several Memphis Police Department squad cars filled the parking lot of Prive, which is located about 10 miles from where Dolph was shot and killed on Wednesday (Nov. 17). The outlet reports that it is unclear whether a threat was made against the restaurant.

As REVOLT previously reported, Dolph was shot and killed as he purchased cookies at Makeda’s Butter Cookies in Memphis. So far, no information about the gunman has been released to the public.

On Wednesday, rumors surfaced that Gotti’s restaurant and Blac Youngsta’s grandmother’s home had been shot at. However, local reporters said those claims were false. Hannah Wallsmith, who works for Memphis news station Action 5 News, tweeted, “Prive’s in Memphis has NOT been shot up per @Mem_PoliceDept.” Joyce Peterson, who also works for Action 5 News, tweeted. “Granny is safe too, per Memphis Police.”

Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland has called for peace following the “Preach” rapper’s tragic death. “To honor all victims of violent crime, I ask for calm in our city to allow the Memphis Police Department to do their duty to capture those responsible,” he tweeted. “I’d also like to ask that motorists continue to avoid the area of Airways and I-240.”

Lawmakers call for Memphis to be placed under curfew following Young Dolph’s death

Several lawmakers urged the city to implement a curfew for Wednesday night. Councilman JB Smiley wrote a letter to the city saying that he was “grieving,” but “tired of issuing statements that speak to or highlight crime in our communities.”

“…I ask that you exercise care and caution in the days to come,” he wrote. “Make smart decisions and be safe. I’m hopeful that the City of Memphis will implement a curfew to preserve the safety of all citizens.”
