Beyonce paid a surprise visit to a Tewksbury, Mass., Walmart on Sunday, December 20, giving shoppers the treat of all holiday treats.
After moseying around the store shopping accompanied by her security team, a camera crew and a gaggle of fans, she approached checkout to pay, at which point she grabbed the intercom mic.
‘It’s Beyonce,’ she said. ‘I stopped by the store today because my record just arrived. I want to send everyone a little gift. For everyone in the store right now, the first $50 of your holiday gifts are on me. Merry, merry Christmas from Beyoncé.”
According to Boston.com, Beyonce handed out 750 gift cards, totaling a whopping $37,500.
According to local Fox affiliate WGHP, the grammy-winning artist stopped at the store on her way to performing a concert in Boston. And that new self-titled album she was talking about? It shattered sales records after dropping unannounced on Dec. 13, 2013.
“It was amazing, quite a scene,” Walmart spokeswoman Sarah McKinney told the station. “Everybody was so excited when she came in, and it’s so great what she did for our customers right before Christmas.”
All hail, Queen Bey!
