You’re looking at the first cast photo of the F. Gary Gray directed Straight Outta Compton, a biopic on legendary rap group NWA.
N.W.A.’s own Ice Cube and Dr. Dre serve as executive producers of the film alongside Eazy E’s widow Tomica Woods-Wright and Will Packer.
The film is set to hit theaters on August 14th, 2015.
Ice Cube’s son, O’Shea Jackson Jr is set to play his father, Jason Mitchell will star as the late Eazy-E and Corey Hawkins will take on the role of a young Dr. Dre.
To have so many people associated with N.W.A.’s story being the ones to actually bring their story to life — it doesn’t get any better than that!
Get into the film’s synopsis.
“In the mid-1980s, the streets of Compton, California, were some of the most dangerous in the country. When five young men translated their experiences growing up into brutally honest music that rebelled against abusive authority, they gave an explosive voice to a silenced generation. Following the meteoric rise and fall of N.W.A., STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON tells the astonishing story of how these youngsters revolutionized music and pop culture forever the moment they told the world the truth about life in the hood and ignited a cultural war.”
This is going to be great!
