The Weeknd is giving back in a big way.

Recently, it was announced that the pop star decided to make a donation of $100,000 to a Ugandan charity by the name of Suubi Health Center. The center serves as a maternity and children’s medical facility.

It is located in the Community of Budondo and was opened in 2014 due to the vision of Mukisa Bernard Nadhomi and his wife Teopista, according to MamaHope.org.

As per their website, the center treats about 260 people on a monthly basis. In addition to treatment, the Suubi Health Center seeks to educate, in order to build a healthy community. Nadhomi laid out his vision for the center, saying on the website, “Our dream itself is very simple — we wish to eliminate deaths from preventable conditions and to help our community to thrive in the face of difficult economic and environmental realities. Our solution includes a health care center, health training, jobs, and sense of place that has truly become the heart of our home in Budondo.”

As per E! News, The Weeknd’s contribution will help the staff at the non-profit, Mama Hope, to complete construction of the first floor of the maternity clinic. The additional space will allow the center to treat 260,000 people, a huge uptick from their previous threshold of 56,000 people.

It was also reported that The Weekend, real name Abel Tesfaye, was inspired to donate to the facility after his friend French Montana devoted $100,000 back in March while he was filming his music video, “Unforgettable.”

According to Mama Hope’s video on Youtube, documenting French’s visit to the clinic, he initially decided to film in Uganda when he discovered the Triplets Ghetto Kids online. You can view the clip above.
