Tekashi 6ix9ine’s rise to prominence and lane in hip-hop has been a rather peculiar path. At times, there are remanences of 50 Cent’s tyrant strategy and hints of Troy Ave’s unwavering confidence mixed in his formula to become a hot-button topic throughout the industry but, as of late, the ‘Gummo’ rapper has found himself in hot water due to his possible involvement with a shooting during last weekend’s Broner/Vargas fight at the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Not too long ago, reports surfaced revealing Tekashi struck a deal for $4.9 million with TUNES Audio in order for the rapper to promote the company’s red headphones but before the ink could dry, TUNES Audio has announced that they’re backing away from the 69 after hearing about his and his manager’s gunplay involvement during the Brooklyn-based boxing match.
A representative from TUNES Audio had this to say about the drifting partnership, “at this time it is in the best interest of our company to move on. We wish him well, he’s a great artist.”
It looks like Tekashi will have to make a decision on whether he wants to fully immerse himself in the music business or continue to play this dangerous game with the streets.
