Four teens were found slain and mutilated in a Long Island park on Wednesday, April 12, bringing the Central Islip community to chills, as members of the MS-13 gang believed to be responsible continue to dwell among them.

No arrests have been made, but relatives of each of the victims [16-year-old Justin Llivicura, and 18-year-olds Jorge Tigre, Michael Banegas and Jefferson Villalobos] have told investigators that they’ve experienced intimidation from the notorious group at school, and had neutral associations with MS-13 members to various degrees. A couple of local residents have also allegedly come forward claiming to have been present at the park when machete wielding men emerged from behind trees.

“The gang members came out and told them to kneel down,” an unnamed friend of one of Villalobos’ relatives reportedly told them he witnessed, prior to making a run to escape from the scene. Investigators are looking into the possibility that the victims were among a larger number of teens who were invited to a fake party that was organized in order to pull off an ambush.

Wednesday’s killings come six months after the bodies of two teenage girls [Nisa Mickens, 15 and Kayla Cuevas, 16] were found dismembered in a wooded patch in the nearby Brentwood neighborhood of Long Island. The murders shook the area to the core, as it came months after the skeletal remains of teens Oscar Acosta, 19, Miguel Garcia-Moran, 15, and Jose Pena-Hernandez, 18 were discovered behind an abandoned psychiatric facility. Last month authorities arrested eight members of MS-13 for the Mickens and Cuevas killings.
