Next month, the world will finally be able to check out Coming 2 America, the sequel to the 80’s classic Coming to America that stars Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall, Wesley Snipes, Tracy Morgan, Teyana Taylor, James Earl Jones, and more. Pulling from the forthcoming soundtrack, today sees the release of “I’m A King,” a Texas collaboration between Dallas’ Bobby Sessions and Houston’s Megan Thee Stallion. Produced by BL$$ED and AJRuinedMyRecord, the fun groove sees the two declaring royalty, an obvious reference to the associated film:

“Comin’ to America, now it’s comin’ to me, I’m not regular, I’m descendin’ the kings, shout out my father while I was speakin’ to you, vision man obsessed, speakin’ to his truth/

Can’t go to sleep, too busy livin’ the dream, not by myself, too busy buildin’ the team, play with magic just like my name was Kareem, I’m your majesty, roses under my feet/”

In addition to “I’m A King,” this year saw Sessions connecting with Lecrae for the remix of his 2020 single “Make A Way.” Prior to that, he released the third chapter of his RVLTN series in September, which saw 13 tracks and additional features from Royce da 5’9”, The Outfit, TX, and ZYAH. Meanwhile, Megan has skyrocketed to the front of music’s current leadership, much in part thanks to last year’s EP Suga and debut LP Good News, the latter of which debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 thanks to some 100,000 album equivalent units sold. The album also contained the Beyoncé-assisted remix to “Savage,” which earned Megan her first number one placement on the Billboard Hot 100.

Check out both Sessions and Megan’s “I’m A King,” as well as the official trailer for Coming 2 America below. Both movie and soundtrack are set to make landfall March 5.
