Jussie Smollett was released from police custody on Thursday (February 21) after posting his $100,000 bond. He was surrounded by a team of security and lawyers before getting into a black SUV and leaving the scene.
According to TMZ, Jussie told police that he has an untreated drug problem, and he also told them that he didn’t have alcohol or mental problems. Police have reported that Jussie bought ecstasy from Abel Osundairo, one of the brothers who say they helped Smollett stage his attack.

Having now been formally arrested and charged with a Class 4 felony, it’s just been reported that Smollett has been granted bail with a few notable conditions. TMZ reports that Smollett’s bail has been set at $100K, of which he has to post 10% of to get released. Furthermore, he’s been ordered to surrender his passport as part of the bail agreement, and will also be subject to pre-trial monitoring. The actor is expected to post bond and be released sometime this afternoon.
