    Michael Jackson Family Lawsuit Rejected

To the dismay of many, a jury has dismissed a $1.5 billion lawsuit brought by Michael Jackson’s family, seeking damages from AEG Live over his death in 2009. The 12-person panel (six men and six women) agreed that the AEG Live, Michael’s tour promoting company, hired doctor Conrad Murray to be his doctor. However, they disagreed that he was incompetent.

Jackson’s mother Katherine Jackson alleged that AEG Live was negligent when they hired an incompetent doctor for his upcoming “This Is It” tour. But after a 5-month civil trial, the jury deliberated for three days before the they reached the verdict that took only a few minutes to be read. They found AEG Live “not guilty”.

Of course, Marvin Putnam, the lawyer for AEG Live, welcomed the verdict. He commented, “The jury’s decision completely vindicates AEG Live, confirming what we have known from the start – that, although Michael Jackson’s death was a terrible tragedy, it was not a tragedy of AEG Live’s making.”
