The father of former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick has been sentenced to 15 months in federal prison for a tax offense.
In addition to the prison time, Bernard Kilpatrick will also have to pay restitution in the amount of $62,212.24. He will be under 1 year of supervised release, after serving his prison time.
His sentence won’t begin until after January 1, Edmunds says, because Bernard Kilpatrick has a number of other responsibilities. She will request a prison in Texas if Kilpatrick asks.
His sentencing comes after a federal judge sentenced both his son and Bobby Ferguson to decades in prison for their part in the City Hall Corruption Trial.
