Chuck D believes LL Cool J should be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame before 2Pac who was nominated earlier this week.

The Public Enemy frontman took to Twitter to give his opinion on Tupac being nominated for induction in the Class of 2017. And while Chuck D showed love for Pac, he thinks the people in charge of the institution are overlooking a special emcee. “Got forever love for PAC BUT there AINT a solo rap act that should get in the RRHOF before @llcoolj I Don’t care about what naysayers thing,” wrote Chuck D. When @llcoolj entered the rap game there was NOTHING close to the blizzard he came in the game with.1 dude rearranged records and performance.” Chuck D also thinks LL was a phenomenon right out of the gate while it took 2Pac time to master his craft. The Queens rapper was nominated in 2009, but he was never formally inducted.

Chuck’s group Public Enemy was inducted back in 2013.  In order to eligible for the honor, an artist must have a release that is 25 years old and 2Pac finally hit that mark with his 1991 album “2Pacalypse Now.” Fellow West Coast legends N.W.A. were inducted earlier this year by Kendrick Lamar. Other nominees for the class of 2017 include singer Chaka Khan, the band Pearl Jam and Janet Jackson.
