DMX made history during the Ruff Ryders era, but even he gets excited to meet another rapper who has done so much for the culture. During a recent concert, X met Rakim for the first time and it was definitely a moment for the both of them.
In the clip below, X explains why he’s always been a Rakim fan. “I always remember Rakim. Always. Brother was serious. He didn’t compromise his lyrics. Went hard. And he didn’t even curse.”
Likewise, Rakim had some words to say about X. “We all know what was going on in hip hop at that time. When he came through, his s**t was so f**kin’ raw, I was like, ‘Thank you man. Finally.’ It was like New York can stand up again.”
