RICK ROSS SAYS HE NO LONGER HAS A RELATIONSHIP WITH BIRDMAN

Birdman‘s strained relationships are now spreading outside his Cash Money empire.

It’s been about a year since Tyga first hinted at the unrest happening inside one of the most successful rap labels ever, when he voiced his disapproval with the way his career was being handled. Lil Wayne would shortly follow, shocking the world with his tweets about the souring of his relationship with Birdman, whom Wayne has referred to as his “dad” for much of his career. Drake and Nicki Minaj have been cryptic about their situations, but on his February mixtape, If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, Drake didn’t shy away from hinting at said unrest, with lines like “Walk up in my label like, where the check go? Yeah I said it.”

Now, Rick Ross, who isn’t and has never been signed to Cash Money, is taking sides. For years, the MMG head honcho has cut records with just about every notable rapper on Birdman’s roster, from Lil Wayne and Nicki to Drake and Tyga. In fact, Ross and Birdman released a joint mixtape in 2013, The H, that they’d been working on since 2008. However, during his time on The Breakfast Club this week, Rick Ross revealed that the two label heads are no longer as close as they appeared to be.

This confirms that Ross’s line from a new song called “Color Money,” which appeared to be Ross speaking indirectly to Drake–“I got more money than that p*ssy that you’re signed to”–was not about Lil Wayne. In fact, Ross went on to say he recently contemplated doing a joint project with Lil Wayne, a frequent collaborator of his.
