Prince has confirmed dates for a seven-week North American tour, which will kick off June 21 in Columbus, Ohio. The trek will follow Prince: A Celebration, a week-long affair at his Paisley Park Studios in Minneapolis that will include with a pair of performances June 15-16 at the Xcel Energy Center in nearby St. Paul. 

The tour comes in advance of “The Rainbow Children,” the artist’s latest album with his group, the NPG. Although a release date for the album is unknown, the set will be played in its entirety for attendees of the Celebration. Prince’s last outing was the hastily scheduled Hit N’ Run tour, which played 20 cities late last year, and 12 earlier this spring, ending May 5 in Sacramento, Calif. 

Although there is no New York show on the itinerary, area fans can join visiting tourists crowding into Rockefeller Center on June 22 to catch Prince performing on NBC’s “Today” show’s Summer Concert Series. As with other artists featured in the regular Friday morning series, several songs will be broadcast live on the show, which airs 7-10 a.m. ET.
