Working with eBay has changed Pharrell Williams‘ perception of the site he once deemed a “glorified yard sale.” As one of the several celebrity curators of eBay’s new Follow It. Find It campaign, he now says, “It’s a place that is meant for convenience and where people can actually convene.”

For his collection, Skateboard P has included things like a a silk Hermes scarf ($349), a first edition Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss ($5,895.95) and an old school Casio keyboard ($75.00).

He explained why he teamed up with the site to Billboard.com this week. “I just got the opportunity to check it out and see what it’s about,” he said. “Fear of missing out is a marketing tool. And it doesn’t have the gravitas that we’ve been convinced it has, because, essentially, you can find whatever you’re looking for on eBay.”

The campaign allows customers to follow special interests, fashion collections or members like himself and Solange Knowles and has been particularly helpful for the newlywed with fashion finds he can’t get from stores, he said. “When I go into Chanel, it’s mainly just women’s things. And Celine only makes women’s things, but I find what the f–k I can wear because I love it so much … Chanel’s resort collection, every once in awhile, has a few men’s pieces that usually aren’t in stores. And you want the unisex stuff, like an iPod case or some necklaces that I’ll have remade.”

Before, he said, eBay was more about rummaging through hand-me-downs than such a luxe experience. “One of the biggest things I’d get pissed off about is all the s–t that they use to dress the windows with, like the surfboard or the basketball. You couldn’t buy them because they weren’t for sale. But a year or two later, you might find them on eBay … As much as I like Commes des Garcon, now I know where I can find it when I couldn’t before.”

As big a role as fashion plays in his life, music is still center stage. Coming off two huge singles this year —Robin Thicke‘s “Blurred Lines” and Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” — the Virginia native is still very much in the studio crafting creations for the likes of UsherT.I.Jennifer Hudson and Ed Sheeran alongside scoring music for The Amazing Spiderman 2 film and working with Beyoncé.

Williams summed up Bey’s long awaited fifth album in one word, “Crazy,” he said. “Let me tell you what it is. She’s very particular. She’s a Virgo. And she’s not going to put it out until it’s ready and feels like it’s right to her. She’s got a very specific taste. I guess that’s the reason she’s Beyoncé. Her name is recognizable around the globe and that’s huge. That comes from someone that has very particular taste. When you know what you want, you won’t stop until you get it.”

With no album release date set for the Destiny’s Child alum, fans will just have to be patient, Williams said, adding, “We will wait.”
