Mayweather believes he’s better than Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Robinson

For anyone who has paid attention to Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s career the last two decades, his most recent bold proclamation won’t come as much of a surprise. By now, bravado is what we expect from Mayweather Jr.

According to Floyd Mayweather Jr., Floyd Mayweather Jr. is a better boxer than Muhammad Ali and Sugar Ray Robinson. Speaking with Stephen A. Smith, Mayweather Jr. gave his thoughts on the topic.

“No one can ever brainwash me to make me believe that Sugar Ray Robinson and Muhammad Ali was better than me,” Mayweather Jr. said. “No one could ever brainwash me and tell me that.”

Despite his undying belief that he’s the best ever, Mayweather Jr. did want to make it clear that he respects both of those fighters.

“But one thing I will do, I’m going to take my hat off to them and respect those guys because those are the guys that paved the way for me to be where I’m at today,” he said.

At this point, Mayweather Jr.’s commitment to be known as the best ever is more than just a goal, it’s a mission. And one of the last objectives of that mission is to fend off Manny Pacquiao on May 2.
