The two media moguls unite Bad Boy and Epic Records for exclusive deal.
Today, Sean Combs and L.A. Reid inked an exclusive partnership bridging the iconic Bad Boy and Epic Records for some monstrous music making. One of the many details of this golden union includes a distribution deal for two forthcoming albums from Mr. Take That himself. All of this coming ahead of a celebratory performance from Diddy at the BET Hip Hop Awards in Atlanta.
L.A. Reid, who’s was a driving force behind the legendary careers of Toni Braxton, Usher, and TLC, spoke on the deal saying “Over the years, we not only enjoyed incredible success together, but we also became lifelong friends. Today, of course, Puffy is truly in a league all his own, continuing to influence culture and ignite musical revolutions time and time again. He’s a true innovator and I could not be more excited to join forces once again.”
This new partnership won’t only involve Mr. Combs, but will also include new artist signings, several new music projects, and a few upcoming releases set to be announced in the coming weeks.
Diddy couldn’t be more excited to link back up with his old pal, saying “I have known LA Reid since the very beginning and together we have enjoyed countless successes over our long friendship. To now work with LA in this capacity feels more like a homecoming than a new beginning. Not only is he a fearless and smart businessman, he believes in artists and understands music better than anyone. He embodies hard work and true success, evident in all of his endeavors. To collaborate with LA Reid is to collaborate with the very best.”
As part of the exclusive joint venture,”The Bad Boy catalog, together with Bad Boy/Atlantic artist Janelle Monae, stay with Warner Music Group as per the prior venture agreement between The WMG and Bad Boy; while other current Bad Boy artists such as French Montana, Cassie, and MGK remain at Interscope under the Bad Boy Imprint,” according to the official press release outlining the deal.
Who knows? Maybe this could help spark another Danity Kane reunion?
