Estate Of Prince To Go To Sister

Prince’s sister, Tyka Nelson, is said to be in line to receive the significant fortune the singer left behind when he died unexpectedly at his Minneapolis, Minnesota, home.

Nelson and her brother were reportedly close in recent years, following a time of estrangement while she battled a crack cocaine addiction and years of prostitution.

Minnesota law stated that if an unmarried person with no children dies without a will, the parents and siblings would inherit their wealth. Prince’s parents, John Nelson and Mattie Shaw, are both deceased and Nelson is his only full-blooded sibling, Daily Mail reported.

“He really loved you all,” Nelson told mourners outside of her brother’s Paisley Park compound, where he was found dead.

Nelson, also a singer, spoke of the childhood relationship she had with her brother in a 2008 interview with City Pages.

“I’m very quiet,” she said. “In the beginning, my brother would play the piano and I would sing, because that’s what my mom and dad did. And then along the way somebody teased me for even thinking that I could get up there. That stayed with me, and I became very shy.”

In 2003, Nelson told the National Enquirer that she was in a difficult situation before her brother helped put her into rehab for drug addiction.

“I was a single mother and my boys were babies,” she told the magazine, the Daily Mail reported. “I sold my body for food, money and pampers.” Nelson admitted that she pawned a car Prince bought for her in order to get money to buy drugs.

Prince’s net worth is a stunning $300 million, which doesn’t include the money his estate is set to make in the coming weeks as music and merchandise sales skyrocket due to his untimely passing. Tyra will also receive the money Prince made in a steaming deal with Tidal, and the $500 million his catalog is worth.

The late singer also reportedly has a large collection of unreleased music — the future of which has yet to be determined. One album in the collection is reportedly an album he recorded with Miles Davis.
