Digital Underground rapper Shock G was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia after a tour stop in Wisconsin.

G got busted when cops pulled him over in Rice Lake, WI around 2 AM on June 13. Cops say the license plate of the vehicle was listed to an unlicensed driver … who was in the passenger seat, while Shock G drove.

It’s unclear how cops found the drug paraphernalia in the vehicle, but they arrested the now 53-year-old Shock G. He posted a mere $100 bail upon his release.

He had performed with Naughty by Nature 2 days before the arrest.

Officers did NOT book Shock G for putting satin on panties.

Last night (June 15), Jay Z was inducted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame. The first MC or Rap artist to receive the honors was not in attendance for the Manhattan ceremony. He and wife Beyoncé are presently awaiting twins. However, Jay’s acceptance speech was replaced with other types of acknowledgements, including his induction into the Hall by the man Jay calls “the greatest rapper of all time.”

By video, 44th President Barack Obama ushered his “friend” Jay into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame:

I’d like to think Mr. Carter and I understand each other. Nobody who met us as younger men could have expected us to be where we are today. We know what it’s like not to have a father around. We know what it’s like not to come from much, and we know people who didn’t get the same breaks we did. And so we try to prop open those doors of opportunity so that it’s a little easier for those who come up behind us to succeed as well. Jay and I are also fools for our daughters, although he’s gonna have me beat once those two twins show up. And let’s face it, we both have wives who are significantly more popular than we are. Like all of you, I’m a fan, and I’ve been listening to Jay since I was a young and hungry state senator. I sampled his lyrics to close my speech at Selma. I tweeted a reference to ‘My First Song’ as I was putting my finishing touches on the final state of the union address. I had to brush some dirt off my shoulders during a campaign. So I’m pretty sure I’m still the only President to listen to Jay Z’s music in the oval office. That may change at some point, but I’m pretty sure that’s true now. In fact, Jay, you’ve been inspiring in making me want to be active in my retirement like you have been in yours. So I’m going to close with something that Jay once said that struck me: he said ‘I’ve never looked at myself and said that I need to be a certain way to be around a certain sort of people. I’ve always wanted to stay true to myself, and I’ve managed to do that. People have to accept that.’ So with that, I’m proud to help present this award to a true American original, the first Hip-Hop artist to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame, Mr. Shawn Carter.

Scarface Says Jay Z Is The Best Songwriter Of All-Time

Warner Chappell Music CEO “Big” Jon Platt received the award on Jay’s behalf. Platt, formerly of EMI, has worked closely with Jay Z on the publishing side since Reasonable Doubt, helping make sure that songwriting is properly administrated.

While Hov was not in the building, he made a rare Twitter appearnce. In the equivalent of a speech acknowledging influences and great peers, Jay tweeted a number of times, as he thanked approximately 100 Hip-Hop peers, name by name.

Also included in the list (in the first tweet) is Jaz-O, Jay Z’s estranged and mentor. The two recorded Jay’s earliest material together in the 1980s, and worked together through the early Roc-A-Fella Records years, before a falling out. There was several artists included in Jay’s list that he’s had varying run-ins with past and possibly present, including Drake, 50 Cent, Lil Wayne, Tupac, Nas, Ab-Soul, and Joe Budden (who, as nickname “Mouse,” Jay singled out within Slaughterhouse).

DJ Premier Gives The Inside Story On The Making Of Jay Z’s Reasonable Doubt 20 Years Later

While it was unclear if Jay was referring to Young Thug or Slim Thug (moments after he appeared to shout out wife Beyoncé as a rapper as well), those were included. He alluded to besting Wu-Tang’s GZA in a battle, as well as what appears to be a similar claim made about Busta Rhymes.

In February, Jay Z created a playlist of his favorite songwriters to commemorate the hall of fame announcement.

While promoting the release of 2015 LP Compton, Dr. Dre announced plans to donate its royalties to the construction of a performing arts center in the neighborhood he helped put on Rap’s map. At the time, the mogul said “I’ve been really trying to do something special for Compton and just couldn’t quite figure out what it was,” though he did confirm he was working alongside Mayor Aja Brown. Newly unveiled plans today (June 15) prove the legendary producer is putting his money where his mouth is, with $10 million of his earnings going to Compton High School’s state-of-the-art complex.

According to a statement made to the Los Angeles Times, Dre said his goal is “to provide kids with the kind of tools and learning they deserve,” adding that the as-yet-unnamed center “will be a place for young people to be creative in a way that will help further their education and positively define their future.” Featuring cutting edge technology and equipment, the complex will give students and the Compton community-at-large access to digital-media production facilities and a 1,200-seat theater, per the Timesreport. Dre’s $10 million donation is only the beginning; he also “will be directly involved in raising the remaining funds needed to complete the center, which is expected to break ground by 2020.”

President of Compton Unified School District’s governing board of trustees Satra Zurita called the forthcoming complex “one of the greatest performing arts centers in the country” and thanked Dre for his “unwavering” support of the community. “Micah Ali, vice chairman of the district’s board of education, said the new high school will be the most modern public school complex ever built,” writes the Times.  Eazy-E and The Game both attended Compton High.

N.W.A.’s Straight Outta Compton Album Heads To The Library Of Congress

In February 2016, Curbed Los Angeles published a report titled “Inside Compton’s Plans to Build an Entertainment Complex With Help From Dr. Dre,” (based on a Compton City Council meeting) which detailed supposed plans for a movie-theater focused construction project which would bring the community its first cineplex in decades. It is unclear whether those plans are still being considered. As of press time, the City of Compton’s official website made no mention of today’s unveiling.

Jada Pinkett Smith took to Twitter to set the record straight on a few things portrayed in the ‘All Eyez on Me’ Tupac biopic that she says aren’t correct.

In a series of Tweets, Jada blasts the story being told as ‘deeply hurtful’ and pinpoints several moments in the film that never actually happened.

See what she had to say below:

Forgive me… my relationship to Pac is too precious to me for the scenes in All Eyez On Me to stand as truth.

Pac never read me that poem. I didn’t know that poem existed until it was printed in his book.

Pac never said goodbye to me before leaving for LA. He had to leave abruptly and it wasn’t to pursue his career.

I’ve never been to any of Pac’s shows by his request. We never had an argument backstage.

Remy Ma Brings Nicki Minaj Feud To Summer Jam Stage

Taylor Hill for Hot 97

As part of Remy Ma’s set at the annual Hot 97 Summer Jam on Sunday (June 11), the Bronx rapstress brought out a who’s who of talent — both past and present — including Lil Kim, MC Lyte, Lady of Rage, Cardi B, Queen Latifah, Monie Love and Young M.A.

Not surprisingly, one female rapper was noticeably absent during Remy’s performance — Remy’s nemesis Nicki Minaj. Remy capitalized on the moment by performing her seething diss track “SHether” amid a backdrop of images of the megastar.

Remy’s appearance at Summer Jam comes shortly after Nicki accused the rapper of not writing her own rhymes on “SHether.” On a leaked verse from 2 Chainz’s single “Realize,” Nicki addressed the issue again, rapping: “Papoose on the ‘Ether’ record/But I broke Aretha record.”

Summer Jam wasn’t all Remy versus Nicki though. The stadium stage also welcomed performances from over a dozen other artists, including Migos, French Montana and Joey Bada$$.

Given that Summer Jam and surprise appearances have become synonymous with one another, the festival delivered once again.

DMX appeared during Chris Brown’s set, one of the biggest surprises of the evening, while Mobb Deep graced the stage during Joey Bada$$’s performance was another unexpected event.

Ice Cube Gets Star On Hollywood Walk Of Fame

LOS ANGELES, CA – Ice Cube was immortalized on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame Monday (June 12). The legendary MC officially received his star alongside the likes of Marilyn Monroe and Michael Jackson.

Most of the living members of N.W.A (Dr. Dre, DJ Yella and MC Ren), Russell Simmons, Big Boi, Xzibit, Sir Jinx and Yo-Yo were in attendance for the induction. WC and director John Singleton also spoke at the ceremony before Cube took the stage for his own speech.

“I’m so honored to be here,” Cube said. “It’s a great day. I wanna thank everybody in the city of Los Angeles, the city of Hollywood … everybody that had to do with me getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. I really appreciate it.”

During the special celebration of his career, the Interscope Records artist acknowledged the many people who assisted him along the way in music and film, including the late DJ Crazy Toones, WC’s brother and Cube’s longtime tour DJ.

“You know, you don’t get here by yourself,” he said. “And when you’re coming up doing music, movies, just trying to be creative, you never figure you’ll be on the Hollywood Walk of Fame one day. Today is not really about Ice Cube. It’s about all the people who helped me get here.”

Cube just wrapped up a busy weekend, which was highlighted by his confrontational chat with Bill Maher over the comedian’s use of the n-word.

Amber Rose's Bush-Baring Instagram Follow-Up Post Topples 2 Million Views (NSFW)

Instagram/Amber Rose

THE GRAM – When it’s all said and done, no one can ever accuse Amber Rose of ever having an issue getting in the news, whether it’s fake or not.

As the much of the world tuned in to watch the Cleveland Cavaliers avoid a sweep by the hands of the Golden State Warriors in the 2017 NBA Finals, Wiz Khalifa’s former wife was plotting to let the same world know that her third annual SlutWalk event was on the horizon.

And she didn’t leave any room for the imagination when it came to revealing some details. In the now infamous Instagram shot, Muva posted up on a staircase and opted to go bottomless, flashing her pubic hairs before the social media site yanked it down. Like she did her panties.

Just ask Rihanna: toeing the lines of Instagram code of conduct will open up that 100th problem but seeing that Amber got the attention she sought to get, it seems like she’s a mighty happy camper.

In the subsequent post following the deleted NSFW one, Amber wrote, “When IG deletes ur fire ass feminist post but you really don’t give a fuck because everyone picked it up already #amberroseslutwalk #bringbackthebush.”

Seeing that she had a great deal of social media awaiting her next move, the silent video response has since gotten more than two million plays.

Rose, 33, launched the Los Angeles-based SlutWalk movement in 2015 as a controversial means to raise awareness of female empowerment, discrimination, and sexual assaults.

Details for the upcoming event outside of Rose’s attention-grabbing shot have not yet been released.

If 50 Cent is in need of a new executive producer, he does not need to look any further.

The Cash Money Records co-founder, Bryan “Birdman” Williams, has offered up his services to the New York City rapper. With a résumé that includes albums like Tha Carter II, III and IV, The Pinkprint, and one billion records sold, it certainly sounds like a good idea.

Birdman took to Instagram on Tuesday night to let the world know that he has informed the legendary rapper that he wants to work with him. He posted a photo of 50’s Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ album cover and wrote, “Told @50cent I wanna executive produce his next album 🔥 it’s guaranteed platinum plus #getrixhordietryin .P2 let’s getit💰”

That last part is also interesting. Besides the pairing of Fif’ and Stunna, a Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ Pt. 2 would certainly be welcomed by fans everywhere. It would also give us one more 50 album to bump before he fades into the sunset.

Back in December, 50 Cent told Billboard that his Street King Immortal album could very well be his last. He said, “I don’t want to write another record after that. You know how some artists got to have confirmation that they’re right. I have that confirmation in f-cking 35, 40 million [albums] that I already sold.”

There is no word on which album would come first, but 50 has not put out an LP since 2014’s Animal Ambition, which debuted at #4 on the Billboard 200 and moved 47,000 units in the first week.
