Chris Brown found himself at the center of a media firestorm yesterday (Aug. 30) when police surrounded his Los Angeles home following charges leveled against him for assault with a deadly weapon. After an hours-long stand off, Brown was arrested by the LAPD and released on $250,000 bail, but not before gaining the attention of industry friends and collaborators. Below is a list of hip-hop figures showing their support for Brown, with a majority of the messages coming before his arrest. 50 Cent, Lil Mama and Ray J all showed support for the “Loyal” singer.

Late Tuesday evening, Brown’s attorney, Mark Geragos wrote on Twitter, ““Thanks to everyone for their support and well wishes. Chris is out and well. The allegations against him are demonstrably false #TeamBreezy.” Brown’s arraignment is scheduled for Sept. 20 at the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center.

50, who has collaborated frequently with Brown on such sings as “No Romeo No Juliet” and “I’m the Man,” threw his support behind the singer, asking, “If you’re not safe at home when do you get a break?”

Lil Mama

Lil Mama posted the above video to Instagram calling for support for CB. “We need to support Chris Brown right now. We need to stand in his corner. We need to make sure that he is taken care of properly,” she says. “We can deal with mental, spiritual. physical help, personal help, later, but we need to make sure he’s protected because it’s just an allegation.

Ray J

A video of Ray J was posted to Breezy’s own Instagram account. The singer was reportedly in Brown’s house during the time of the incident. Above, he says, “I’m real upset about today. I’m not happy with how things are handled and how people can take a false story and blow it up into something way more than what it should be.”

He then calls the scene outside Brown’s home “a war zone for no reason” and calls for a change in how such accusations are handled. “It shouldn’t be like this. I support the homie Chris. Shit’s gotta change.”
